Brooklyn Portrait Photographer - Cara & Ryan

Cara & Ryan graciously agreed to sit for a portrait session last month.  And as a new challenge, I asked them to tag along with me on an environmental shoot with no natural light.

So with an assistant and several portable flashes in tow, we all braved the cold and got some really fun shots.

Thanks for playing along, guys.  And thanks for braving hypothermia in that little pink dress, Cara.

Brooklyn Portrait Photographer - Pilar & Gabe

I enjoy setting creative challenges for myself.  So when Pilar and Gabe agreed to sit for me, I chose to use a Hasselblad.  It's a beautiful camera that presented several obstacles.  First, it's a square format rather than the traditional rectangle of a DSLR.  Second, the camera has no prism in the viewfinder so the image you'll see is upside down and reversed.  Third, it's film so I knew I'd be shooting a lot less and I'd have no way to double-check as I went along.

I should also add that it was bitterly, freezing cold.

Pilar & Gabe were not only good sports throughout the whole session, but I think we got some great pictures to boot.
